Generation Game
Women’s International League for Peace & Freedom (WILPF)
Strengthening intergenerational dialogue within a global feminist peace movement

The Women’s International League for Peace & Freedom (WILPF) is a global, membership-based peacebuilding organisation. During the WILPF European Regional Meeting in December 2025, young members from WILPF Austria and Germany, together with the International Secretariat Membership Coordinator, co-facilitated an intergenerational workshop. The aim was to strengthen collaboration across generations within an international context, using the UNSNOOZED Generational Game as the central working method.
The challenge
WILPF brings together generations of activists shaped by different historical, political and social contexts. While this diversity forms a rich collective knowledge base, differences can lead to misunderstandings when expectations and experiences remain implicit. At the same time, WILPF’s strength lies in continuity: generation after generation building on the work of those before them. The goal was to honour this legacy while creating space to reflect openly on how generational experiences influence activism, organisational culture and collaboration today.
The solution
The workshop started with a shared definition of generations based on political events, technological developments and lived experience. Five generations were identified and worked with tailored decks from the UNSNOOZED Generation Game. The game made generational perspectives visible and created a structured way to discuss differences without personalising them.
The impact
The Generation Game created a safe and accessible way to surface generational perspectives and foster mutual understanding. Participants reported clearer insight into each other’s experiences and a stronger sense of shared responsibility across generations. The format proved adaptable to an international setting and supported constructive dialogue focused on collaboration.
